 About Victor Lin

A passionate musician and songwriter, Victor Lin welcomes opportunities to share his original work through his debut album, Calling My Name, featuring songs in nearly every genre—from pop to folk, to Latin, House, Bossa Nova, Blues, Rock, and beyond.

Victor has been studying violin since age five and had his first original song recorded in 2001 by Hong Kong singer, Sally Yeh.  Since then, Victor has made music with artists from a wide range of backgrounds. He credits these experiences with igniting the sparks that have inspired his own original music. Most recently, Victor has focused more on songwriting, arranging, and music production.  He enjoys performing at festivals, pubs, and busking on the streets of San Francisco.

Born and raised in China, Victor studied violin with the Canton Symphony Orchestra’s top violinist, earning the country’s Highest Certificate of Merit for violin standards. Upon moving to the United States at 17, Victor played first violin in the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra. He also joined the UC Davis Baroque Ensemble along with several other classical ensembles under the direction of Professor Michael Sand. During these years, Victor also studied with Gerard Svazlian, a former San Francisco Conservatory of Music professor. Victor holds an M.A. in Education and two certificates from Berklee College of Music in Logic Pro and Advanced General Music Studies. For the last 20 years, Victor has served as director of ViBO Music, a successful music school he founded in 2003. He has been a violinist in San Francisco Philharmonic since 2019. In addition, Victor started ViBO Simfani, a world music ensemble that regularly performs at festivals and other events throughout San Francisco.

When he’s not performing, Victor enjoys discovering nature and hanging out with his labradoodle named Bunbun.
